Predictions – from Delphi Oracle to GPT-2 AI

Humans just love predictions. From Delphi Oracle, a women with power, to GPT-2, an AI created by OpenAI, they ask for it.

The Economist interviewed GPT-2, a neural network for natural language processing, about the future and Singularity Hub presented it here.

“What’s past is prologue.”, in Shakespeare’s "The Tempest", is a beautiful summary of the classic method, alleging that we can look to what has already happened as an indication of what will happen next.

GPT-2 when asked if it had any advice for readers replied “The big projects that you think are impossible today are actually possible in the near future.”. 

For now, it sounds like a La Palice’s true. Probably the point will be the word “near”. How near?
