The Happy New Year from
Boston Dynamics went viral. The answer to the musical question “Do you love me?”,
must be “Yes, I do”. Is impossible not to love this dancing robots and to be
amazed by their movements.
You can have an idea
of its evolution by comparing with Spot in 2018,
Atlas in 2016, Petman
in 2013 (we cannot avoid an
unfairness feeling with this video) and Cheetah in 2012.
Google bought Boston Dynamics in
2013 and sold it to Japanese conglomerate SoftBank in 2017. Just a few weeks
ago it was acquired by Hyundai for $1.1 billion. Hyundai plans to use
the abilities of robots for everything from service and logistics to autonomous
driving and smart factories.
Meanwhile, Spot,
something like a dog, has been helping with the pandemic and, since June is
possible to buy it for $74,500.
